SparkLabs Makerspace was founded by a group of local makers, educators, and community advocates who believe that Schuylkill County deserves a place where anyone can come to build, learn, and create together. We're in the founding phase now — and we'd love for you to be part of it.

Organizational Overviewa

SparkLabs Makerspace is a community workshop in the founding phase, working toward nonprofit status. We are committed to providing affordable access to tools, training, and shared workspace for individuals, entrepreneurs, students, and creatives across Schuylkill County.

Our Mission

To make tools, technology, and hands-on education accessible to everyone in Schuylkill County — empowering individuals of all backgrounds to design, build, and create.

Our Values

• Access for All — We believe making is for everyone. Memberships will be priced to be accessible, and we're committed to never turning someone away who genuinely wants to be here.
• Community First — SparkLabs will be community-governed. Our board is being formed now and will include people from across Pottsville and Schuylkill County.
• Safety & Respect — A welcoming, inclusive environment is non-negotiable. Safety training will be required before anyone uses power equipment.
• Open Knowledge — We believe in sharing skills freely. Our workshops will be taught by community members for the community.

The Space

SparkLabs will occupy space in Pottsville, PA, with a full woodworking shop, digital fabrication lab, electronics workbench area, and collaborative open workspace. The space will be ADA accessible and designed from the start to welcome makers of every background and skill level. Specific location details will be published when we open.

Board of Directors — Forming Now

We are actively recruiting founding board members. This is a unique opportunity to shape the direction, governance, and culture of SparkLabs from the ground up. We're looking for people with backgrounds in education, business, fabrication, community organizing, finance, and anything in between. Contact us to learn more about joining the founding board.
