Support SparkLabs
SparkLabs isn't open yet. Whether it opens — and when — depends entirely on people in this community who decide it's worth making happen. If you're reading this, you're one of those people.
There's no big grant funding this. No corporate backer waiting in the wings. Just two people from Schuylkill County who believe this region needs a place like this, and everyone who agrees enough to do something about it.
Here's how you can help.
Volunteer Your Time & Skills
This is the most powerful thing you can do right now — and it costs nothing.
We need people who are willing to roll up their sleeves and help build something from the ground up. Whether you have a few hours or a few days, there's meaningful work to do.
We're looking for help with:
- Building & Setup — Hands-on help with facility buildout, shelving, wiring, layout, and getting equipment operational
- Technology & IT — Network setup, computer systems, digital infrastructure, and equipment configuration
- Design & Fabrication — If you already know how to use maker tools, help us build the makerspace itself
- Community Outreach — Help spread the word through schools, businesses, neighborhoods, and local organizations
- Education & Instruction — People who can eventually teach workshops, mentor members, or lead youth programs
- Administrative & Organizational — Grant writing, nonprofit formation, social media, event coordination
- Whatever you're good at — Seriously. Tell us what you do. We'll find a way to put it to use.
Not sure what you can offer? Reach out anyway. The fact that you're interested matters.

Donate Tools & Equipment
A makerspace is only as good as the tools in it — and we're building our collection from the ground up. If you have equipment that's sitting unused, we'd love to give it a new life and a community that will use it.
We're always interested in:
- Power tools and hand tools (any condition considered)
- 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines
- Electronics equipment — test gear, soldering stations, components
- Woodworking equipment
- Computers, monitors, and other hardware
- Workbenches, shelving, and storage
- Sewing machines, embroidery equipment
- Audio/video/photography gear
Before donating equipment, please reach out so we can confirm we have space and the right setup to use it well.

Make a Financial Contribution
We'll be transparent with you: we're still in the process of establishing SparkLabs as a formal nonprofit organization. We don't yet have our EIN, and we're working toward formal nonprofit status — so financial contributions are not currently tax-deductible.
We're also exploring a fiscal sponsorship relationship that could provide a pathway for tax-deductible giving in the future, but nothing is finalized. We'll update this page the moment that changes.
If you'd like to make a financial contribution in the meantime, we want you to know exactly what it is: a direct investment in getting this space off the ground, made in the spirit of community. Every dollar goes toward tools, space, and the infrastructure needed to open our doors.

Founding Supporter Recognition
The people who step up before SparkLabs is open — the ones who volunteered when there was nothing yet, who donated tools before anyone was using them, who spread the word before there was anything to show — those are our founders too.
We're keeping a record of our founding supporters, and we intend to honor that history in a permanent way when SparkLabs opens. You'll know what you did, and so will we.
Get in Touch
We're a small operation and we read every email. Don't hesitate to reach out with questions, ideas, or just to say you're interested.
